Other than paintings and engravings, the artist left little material for researchers. Like he had done with Schulz, Ficowski gathered Wojtkiewicz\u2019s surviving manuscripts and knowledge about his life. Both are presented in <strong><em>W sieroci\u0144cu \u015bwiata<\/em> (In the World\u2019s Orphanage)<\/strong>, a book that was initially withdrawn from distribution by the author, who was not satisfied the hastily prepared publication. Fortunately for Ficowski and Wojtkiewicz, soon after the failed initial publication, Galeria Browarna Publishing House published the beautifully edited <strong>Witold Wojtkiewicz Album<\/strong>. It contains satirical feuilletons signed with the artist\u2019s pseudonym \u201cWit-Woj\u201d, his letters, reproductions of his works and Ficowski\u2019s essays devoted to each of them. Ficowski\u2019s poem <strong><em>Zmierzch o \u015bwicie<\/em> (Dusk at Dawn)<\/strong> was an attempt to convey the \u201challucinatory suggestiveness\u201d of those paintings.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was to this young deceased artist that Ficowski owed one of these \u201cprimal adventures in imagination,\u201d but also a lasting fascination.
